What is CBT?
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a short term, talking therapy that encourages you to notice rigid or stuck patterns of thoughts & behaviours and to move them in to more flexible, purposeful and productive actions.
I have specifically trained in Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) developed by Albert Ellis. It is an evidence based philosophical approach to counselling that looks at challenging and identifying unhealthy beliefs in order to replace them with healthier alternative beliefs that improve emotional wellbeing and promotes positive unconditional self-regard and goal achievement.
During therapy I will listen and encourage you to understand and motivate yourself in reaching your emotional and practical goals.
In my experience as a psychotherapist, I’ve found giving people the tools to become their own therapist goes a long way towards helping them become stronger, more confident, realistic and accepting of the issues life throws at them.
Life can be tough and sometimes you just need a bit of guidance and support to help you back on track.
